Medical Nutrition Therapy is the use of nutrition as therapy to improve health and quality of life. It consists of nutritional interventions including individualized nutrition assessment, assistance with patient lifestyle management, and dietary modification, with and without specialized nutritional formulas. It can be used to prevent diabetes, to improve glycemic control and prevent or delay worsening of early diabetes, and to prevent or delay complications and death in long-standing diabetes.
